Jessie's Joint

Jessie's Joint

A Poem by Terry Lynn
"

Written about my Alabama friends Grandaddy and his little juke joint in the woods.

"

A narrow footpath

Only we know

Well, maybe just a few moew

Plywood door

On a broken track

A dark & dusty wood floor

A beat up little bar

Jessie's crooked smile

Sippin' killer wine

A close talker he is

Just smokin' our cigs

Genuinely killin' our time

One bad mic

An even worse off juke

Still lovin' my voice & song

A tale of a near pond

"Grab a pole" Jessie says,

"Come along"

A catfish fry

Laughin', chattin'

Until the summer sun sets

Barefoot on the path

Only we know

Oh, so thankful we met

I like this. the character behind the voice and the one described. I also like the story involved. Makes me hungry for catfish. mmmm. New Orleans style. Good poem.
