My RainierA Poem by Terry LynnReflections and memories of living at the base of Mt. Rainier in Washington StateGrowing up I never knew Of the magnificent glory that always loomed In the distance or right up close Protruding through the clouds Or transparent as a ghost Green and bright or covered in snow The natural beauty so few really know Towering trees and mossy forests Bees and dragonflies taunting tourists Bridges, waterfalls and trails all around Climbing upon them laughter abounds Skipping school and going for a drive Up on the mountain, a great place to hide Or browsing the giftshop for uncommon rocks Sittting in the observatory, quiet talks Or driving with my Dad through the foggy haze Then sadly back to Arizona to spend my days The memories of this wonderful gift The peaceful giant in our midst © 2009 Terry LynnReviews
