Hole

Hole

A Poem by Mariam

I dig a hole inside me
so wind comes and goes,
whispers
Don’t hide it!
Everyone is lonely…
hums and blows

Is it a welcoming door
or a path to lose more?
I will find it out,
to God I swore.

But why
wounding my soul so deeply,
cutting roots with a holy spade.
Is it because I touched your love obliquely
every time I prayed?

I feel the narrator is tortured by the self, an event or life in general. Some dig holes for themselves to punish themselves, other people dig holes for others for many reasons.
