You all...

You all...

A Poem by Mariam

Standing close to you

As if you’re the wall,

You listen…

I sigh and whisper:

The death is nigh,

Oh why!

Don’t take them, God, you hear?!

He says:

Maria, you all lie on my bier,

But you should live without fear

You beg for me -

My hand is near.

i agree with emipoemi on that one glitch in the rhythm...sometimes articles interfere with that...
but this really works on several levels....death being more than a comfort than something scary...a more gentle soul than he is given credit to be...and the idea that his hand is near...in death he will comfort.
a better place? perhaps...
good poem.

Very comforting despite the sad tone. Thank you for sharing.

the only critique I have for this is that "the" (in "the death is nigh") is not needed - more powerful to simply say "death is night".

Other than that, this is amazing!! Profoundly touching. Well done!
