To Forgive

To Forgive

A Poem by Kicker of Elves

When I left my window open

On that carefree summer day

Darkness lavished and began to ripen

The pleasant weather didn’t stay

Could my soul really cheapen

If I put my affections on display?

The deceit deepened

The sun’s light did not fray

Hope, my only weapon

True friends would never betray

But people don’t always choose the right way

To get by, forgiveness must be played
