Saginaw Is A National Treasure

Saginaw Is A National Treasure

A Poem by luna rose

there was the dark side of the moon

but there was the peaky bit too

almost light, not quite across from the sun

promised though “yet”.

we didn’t bring boats on the lake.

we are working class. we

watched boats. we rode their

waves.

priya’s mother suggested cardamom paste. sophia’s suggested

olive oil.

it is understood that natural laws change

by the advice of mothers. we can wear our sand-druff

with pride.

the old oranges behind us are confused by our

presence. they’re tanning on american flags. their grandchildren are pouring

grape pop into the water.

it is understood that natural laws change

by the hands of different politics.

i hope that saginaw will lift its eyelids for a bit.

that we can climb dunes without nebulizers.

priya and sophia and i argue over crusts on

sandwiches.

i hope we know when to

apologize.

three million of us are loitering anyway.

i hope we know when to

leave.

i hope we pay the Annual Pass.
250 dollars.
