Home Revisited

I had a bit of an inspiration to rewrite "Home" after one of my close friends said not understanding where home was for her.

Home Revisited

“Home is where the heart lies.”

What is a home?

A place?

A people?

A country?

 

Home is a universal idea.

However…

The meaning of home…

There is no universal meaning.

 

Home means something different

For each and every one of us.

A friend

A family

Anything & Everything

 

Home is a sanctuary

For the heart.

Where does your heart lie?

You might want to consider altering the title. Home Revisited gave me the impression it was about your experience, maybe something more along the lines of Home Defined or Finding Home would lead the reader better.

I realize you have this as a poem but since it is so thought provoking you might want to consider expanding it into an essay.

There was an old song that said "Home is where the heart is" and your line of "Home is where the heart lies" reminds me of that. I wonder if you heard the song.
I like that the last line ties with the first.

Actually it has stimulated me to write something about Home, and I like that when something gets me ready to write.

Dude, a couple (4 or 5?) years ago there was a request for submission here on the cafe for definitions of what "home" means to them. Interesting that you bring up the subject in this poem. Nice job.
