stranded eyes- christmas time

stranded eyes- christmas time

A Poem by temjen anichar

yellow rays of

December

curling in geometry to the floating yawns

of sleepy-eyed kitchens

muffled curries of nativity-chants

rising from the east

saddled

to the wild sun

strum your noel, ma

a prince, they say, has come riding

mending her fractured wings

she

silhouetted angel

perches again atop mannequin dreams

hush and hush again

she says

lest ye taint the sob of the child

and the virgin

and the woodsmith

strum your noel anyway, ma

its Christmas time.
