A HeartThat Whispers

A HeartThat Whispers

A Poem by Tessa Melendez

You want to know me?
My favorite colors are blue and black,
I hope each day that my life is on track.
I write poems to seal up my heart's cracks,
And for those with heavy hearts.

Oh, you want a story?
Sorry, I got tired of telling it.
May I refer you to my poetry?
Perhaps, I shouldn't.
Some say I should save it for those worthy of knowing me in such a way.
But, what can I say?
Lies can come from every which way,
Sticking for months before they see the light of day.

Feast your eyes on my words until they've had their fill,
Do with the information what you will.
Stay or go?
I can't tell you a thing.
Do you believe what the poems say?
That's my heart on a page,
Now, it's a bird in a cage,
Yes, it sings,
But, you have to come close,
To hear even one note,
Sorry, all that pain has dulled it to a whisper.
Notes that even I can't often hear.

Author's Note

Tessa Melendez
This is another one I wrote from the list of prompts I took from Instagram. The topic is Whisper. I decided to make it into an emotional and personification type piece. I personally kinda like this one.

About
I am 20 years old and have been writing since I was 12 years old. I started as a story-writer, I'm more of a poet now. My stories have kinda fallen off and the poetry comes more easily now, more as a .. more..
