Colors of Life

Colors of Life

A Poem by Tessa Melendez

To those who see the world as wondrous,
A place full of opportunity,
Life is colorful,
There are no pains nagging at the brain,
Sending sweet colors flying away.

But for those of us who see the world as dangerous,
A place full of pain,
Giving more purpose to rain,
Life is colorless,
More black than gray.

We know that too many die in vain,
Human life is no more than a stain
that sprawls all across the vital green of the earth.
No, the sweet blues are not safe either,
If we were gone those colors would get brighter.

For now,
Life is colorless.
Hopelessly darkened by human greed,
Because all we see,
All we care for,
Is getting more.
Not seeing that our own futures are being torn.

Day 22. Topic: Life is Colorless. I feel that I'm getting better at writing pieces that are impersonal. Quite proud of myself for it.
