Dreamless

Dreamless

A Poem by Tessa Melendez
"

When one struggles to find dreams in the night.

"
Night after night...
Dreams put up a fight
Refusing to appear
But, I never fear

Night after night...
I lay on my back
Waiting for dreams to attack
Always drifting away dreamless

Night after night...
Staring at my dark ceiling
Thinking endlessly of writing
Thinking endlessly of everything

Night after night...
Music in my ears
With waking thoughts of my fears
Dreams put up a fight

Night after night...
After midnight,
The possibility of dreams is tantalizing
As sleep takes me

Yet, I still wake dreamless...

Author's Note

Wrote this piece last night, because I find that I have lately been falling asleep late at night and receiving no dreams. It's kind of saddening.

Thank you.
sometimes the best poems are written when you're tired. and sleeping dreamless is depressing, though sometimes better than having nightmares eh?

I agree. Thanks for your review
Sometimes we are alive because of our dreams. It is sad that sometimes we do not even have those dreams.

Most Welcome :)
Your words are such a glimpse into your mind, your world that is aching for those dreaming places. This has such a profound rhythm and flow to it, and makes me hope your dreams will come sweet and soon. Mine sometimes attack in the day, which leaves little room for rest. Here's to good ones filling you now. :)

They did last night actually... and they turned into nightmares.

I know. I tried to go back to sleep thinking of something else.
Simple and sincere. I enjoyed it. Loved the recurring "night after night" :)

To me this poem is about hopelessness. If there no dreams there is no hope for tomorrow. This piece is very sad and I hope dreams do come to you soon. Blessings, N.

It all depends on how you view it. But, thank you for your review and your hopes for me.
Very well done. it really portrays what many people feel as they lay up all night and, finally getting sleep, only to wake with no dreams. You use of words are great and feel of emotion. Great work!
