WishesA Poem by Tessa MelendezI wish... I was perfectly independent My time spent... With a pencil in hand, Smooth paper beneath my palms I wish... I could easily find my place in life Cease these times of strife And simply be happy I wish... I was beautiful Inside and out And could believe without a doubt When someone tells me so I wish... I was clever About every endeavor Knowing the correct move, The correct word I wish... My wishes were more than just dreams Seemingly coming apart at the seams My heart is constantly screaming out "Why me?" I wish... I could smile more My heart something people don't ignore My soul remaining in one piece Its dark days finally ceasing I wish... I could find that ray of light To bring me out of the dark And find that one little spark That tells me hope exists I wish... This little wish list didn't exist But now it is made It exists Because my dark side refuses to fade
