Letting GoA Poem by Tessa MelendezWhen you finally just let go of someone you thought you wanted or loved. Many a day I spent wanting you Many a day I spent searching for you, Seeking out some way to understand your labyrinth I traveled down hallways and corridors Never did I find so much as a clue You knew my thoughts You knew my feelings The way you spoke to me was so appealing Every talk a comfort to my racing heart Every moment with you a delicate art But, as each day passed I lost interest in searching your labyrinth My feelings for you died There hasn't yet been a day that I've cried I'm finally letting go I'm finally letting go This time there are no tears This time there are no sobbing "Why?"s This time there is no pain This crush is simply passing by I'm finally letting go You had your chance to be mine You had your chance to love me back You had your chance to make those sweet kisses last You had your chance to have a real love I'm finally letting go You have no need to think about the girl in black The girl that sat beside you in class every other day The girl with the invisible weight on her back No need to worry about the girl with drawings on her arm I'm finally letting go You can do what you like You don't need to look at the girl with so many issues in life No need to force smiles as you pass that girl in the hall She has given up I'm finally letting go That girl no longer wishes to be yours As you move on without a care Days will pass by where you forget her more and more Days will pass by and you will become one less issue for her to bear I'm finally letting go As you find a new life Passing her by once more Her last words to you will be "I'm letting go." © 2017 Tessa MelendezAuthor's Note
