AnguishA Poem by Terry EllisA dark time
Anguish
Leaders lie our nation cries
of wars and terrorists, a country
swayed with people betrayed.
Nowhere to go our souls remain
so strained, we scream for help and
times of long ago. Nowhere to start,
the heart is torn with much alarm.
We cry, we scorn the ways that warn
of destruction and frustration of life
and degrees of transformation, to pathways
shadowed by lies and tales which
detail sorrow and grief.
Males and females, young and old, rebirth
from earth and all that is known, we’ve
grown so cold how can we be so bold
to think we know the way?
We’ve strayed we need to get back
to the days of old, and not be quite so
cold. We sold our souls.
I scream, “Help us all before we fall in
anguish and in pain.”
