TemptationA Poem by tekphobikAvoid distraction, remember your purpose.
I go dead inside and conscience fades
But in my blankness I still remember How much it will hurt later How skin is not the highest truth to live for and how I'm being crushed by all the futures I can imagine; No matter how loudly I cry out I have destroyed every way for anyone to believe And now I know what it will feel like to fail, To truly remain defeated, And to run from the gift I begged for. I'm still not certain if I sold my soul But I will hang on to the curse And spend my life trying to resurrect meaning Encouraging my pride to remember humility Because it's so easy to turn away By forgetting temporarily the mistakes of the past. But I can't escape truth I will never escape truth And the only reason I continue to breathe Is because truth is what I found. Who would have guessed something so intangible Could weigh more than a million suns? Ignorance is indeed bliss But there's no way to close my eyes anymore And I must learn to accept the blinding light As I try to find a way to walk from the darkness And hold hope in my heart I will be followed. © 2012 tekphobikAuthor's Note
