RisenA Poem by tekphobikA mortal request
Many people have made note of darkness falling
But to them I simply say they are looking at the wrong horizon For everything in this world rises. Two-thirds of the moon's glowing radiance basks me in pale embrace And confidence rises from within to meet her. If I asked of her a single dance Amongst the stars her brilliance drowns Would she ever give me the privilege? Would her light make me wane? I have on occasion, I admit, desired more than a solitary dance But I know it is just the screams of impertinent mortal skin That begs to touch immortality. In my heart I know it is wrong for me to lust for her so, And instead of giving in to my selfish humanity, I ask for just one dance So I may experience how it feels to rise higher than man was meant And spend the rest of my days in humble devotion To her graceful majesty rising. © 2011 tekphobikAuthor's Note
