No Future

No Future

A Poem by tekphobik
"

For the disconnected.

"
I want to give you all confidence in the world
There's nothing behind everything I cannot say
No Tradition - No Heritage - No Mother Culture
Just a listless feeling that god can't explain
(and, you know I'll never capitalize his name)
We, the children, the bravest new world forgot

Playing with silver cutlery on a maiden voyage
With an iceberg at the edge of our perceptions
We are underclassed, underused, under the rugs
Swept up by our own half-assed participation in
Helping to row the boat we don't want to be on
-It certainly looks cold overboard, so we wait

If we came from somewhere, raised in histories
Least there could be something worth rejecting
Instead we're so busy rejecting our own worths
Examining how you all get along so easy by day
Crying yourself to sleep at night with a drink
The honest minorities canwillnot ever be right

But all we see is the same old story repeating
There is not anything in it worth saying twice
Alive in the times of a mediaocracy of mediocrity
Keep up the placations, everyone wears a smile
Long as y'all don't get too bored misery wanes
Hopefully greed doesn't dry up all imagination

Maybe it's me, I time my living dead days past
By alternating tragedy and video game releases
You probably have another method keeping track
Seconds in the gas chamber en masse, bury deep
The lost hours and generation outside the life
We can't be motivated to buy into toxic wastes

Used to be coffee shops that stimulated debate
They all sold out and turned 'lifestyle' fakes
Now we're left alone, alive by pulses of light
Lost in the tide of voices screaming roflmao!1
Cat videos gone wild, viral meme spreads porno
Wait for that glimmer of hope for a connection

If there's any advice a man like me can impart
It's just a few simple rules hardening your heart:
Everything you own should fit in just one room
Steal their gold to buy knowledge and freedoms
Make time to hide in forests off beaten trails
And always persist with belief you're never alone.

Everyday just hanging out, waiting for something to happen. Sometimes wish I was an explorer digging up some lost artefact or something. Something is it, cant quite put my finger on it, where all the excitement in life packed off to. This poem seems to articulate this for me.

Life grates slowly when every day is exactly the same.
We have with texting and the digital revolution created more written words in the last 5 yrs than throughout history all together.yet still we live in a vacuum of ignorance.until mankind as a whole wants to grow up we are destined to fail again and again

Nature has a way to turn too many failures into disappearing altogether
Well written. Clinging to this life as if it were real.

Cute cats and porn are the two most popular thing on the net! That being said.. this is good, I liked the tempo, and especially liked what you said in this piece. Good advice at the end as well. Much enjoyed, as I do all your work!
