My First DayA Chapter by hellosunshineI hate camp...
I hate camp. I want to b***h slap myself right now. Why did I agree to go? Oh wait my friends of course. "Mom where did you put my bag?" I yelled. "Under your bed." I grabbed it and stuffed all my clothes in it. First, I hate soccer. Oh yeah it's soccer camp. Last time I played soccer when I was like 8 with my cousin - who I didn't know was my cousin until I was like 9 - and I quit. The girls on the other team pissed me off too by making fun of how short I was. I wanted to kick the ball straight to their face and made sure they regretted it. Sorry, I have a bad temper. Anyways, I hate camp. Last time I went to camp was in the sixth grade and it sucked. The mosquito bites, hiking, and teachers were so annoying. I wanted to go home by the third day. I dragged myself downstairs and threw my bag at the front door, waiting at the door. My phone vibrated and it was my friend Caroline. we r here get outside k =] I got up and grabbed my bag and saw my mom looking at me depressed. Her little girl is growing up and it kills her to see it, yeah right. "Caro is here." I said. "Okay I want to talk to her mom first." My mom said. "Please don't." I begged. I looked for my brother and sister to give them a big hug because I won't see them for a while. When I left for sixth grade camp my sister wrote a letter, it was so cute because it said how much she missed me. I found them both; my brother was playing video games with my sister yelled at him, usual. "See you later," I said. They looked up at me and hugged me tight. "Bye." They both said. I smiled and gave them one big goodbye hug. My dad was already outside with my mom talking to Caroline's mom. "Bye Coco." My mom said. Coco isn't my real name; it's just a nickname she gave me after watching Coco Chanel on Lifetime. Oh yeah my name is Ekaterina. "Bye mom and dottie." I said. I hugged them both so tight, and got my bag from my mom's hand. "Did you bring your iPod and charger?" My mom asked. I nodded and grabbed my iPod from my pocket. I gave my mom and dad one last hug; I won't be seeing them for a while because of camp. I'm sort of happy about it but I feel bad about being happy. "Omg, I can't wait." Caroline said. "Me too." I said. "And there's guys there too." She whispered. I smiled and nodded. I turned on my iPod and watched Casablanca on my iPod. I gave Caroline an earpiece and let her watch it. I relaxed a bit in my seat, before I knew it I was knocked out. I felt a swift kick and I immediately woke up. "F**k." I groaned. I looked up and see Caroline's mother look at me in shock. My eyes widened and I bit my lower lip. I cuss a lot but never in front of friends parent. Caroline is sitting next to me giggling and pulls my arm. "C'mon we are at the train station." She said. I stumbled getting out of the car and Caroline threw my bag at me. "Where's Vinessa?" I asked. "She's already here." We both walked together, arms linked together with Carol's mom behind us. "OMG!" A voice yelled. It was so Vinessa. "OMG!" I yelled out with my hand on my hip and other hand at my mouth. I ran to Vinessa and hugged her. I haven't seen her a while because she was grounded for her grades. "C'mon, we are going to miss our train." Vinessa said. We both looked at Caroline and her mom walking towards us. Caroline grinned and hugged Vinessa. "So." I said. "Bye girls." Caroline's mom said. "Bye ma." Vinessa said and hugged her. I hugged her and smiled. "Bye mom." Caroline said and hugged her for it seemed a full minute. Her mom waved at us and walked away never leaving our eyes. "Our train!" Vanessa yelled. We all sprinted like hell to our train. "We need to stop getting caught in the moment." I said. Vinessa nodded and sat down her bags. I turned on my iPod and went back to sleep. "Wow." I said in complete awe of the camp. "I know right." Caroline said. "Everyone please get your bags and go to Bus center." A voice said from an intercom. We all walked to the Bus center and saw cheerful peerky camp leaders. "Welcome everyone!" A camp leader said. "Since you know that this is a sports camp, we are going to introduce you to some of the leaders of each sport." The leader said. Several leaders stepped out and introduced themselves." C'mon." Vinessa said and yanked my arms. We walked with a group of soccer players and (I suppose) basketball players. Caroline was checking out some of the guys talking with their friends. "Wow Caro." I said. "What? They are friggin hot." She whispered. "Seriously, they probably have girlfriend or just want to hook up." "Whatever, just have some fun and have a little summer fling here." "No thanks." I'm really not interested in guys here. Like I said they either want to hook up or already have a girlfriend. But, I never really had a boyfriend or first kiss. We set down at the bleachers and waited for the leaders to talk. "Hey, what's your name?" A basketball player said to us. "I'm Vinessa." She said in a baby voice. I rolled my eyes and turned on my iPod. The guy soon left because of his friends and Vinessa squealed. "He is so fine." She said. "Oh, that's real nice." I said. "Homie, stop being such a b***h." Caroline said. "Hun, please." I said. Caroline rolled her eyes and looked over at the leaders. "Welcome everyone," One of them stepped out the line. "I'm Mindy." A few guys wolf whistled and everyone laughed. "Okay so basketball and soccer are split into the same section," Mindy said, "This section is practically like family." "Yup, hi I'm Tom." A guy said stepping out of the line. "So now we want to settle the basketball and soccer into their own groups," Mindy said, "So we can get into our cabins." Everyone moved around to look for Soccer and Basketball signs on the bleacher. "Okay so ignore Mindy for a while," Tom said. "I am main leader for the Soccer section, any problems or concerns just go to my office and tell me." All the soccer leaders introduced themselves and started to call out their group of people. Caroline, Vinessa, and I held hands praying that we're in the same group. "Ekaterina Roche." Someone called out. I quickly got up and grabbed my bags and walked down the bleachers. "Hey, my name is Judy." She said. "Uh...hi." I said. "Just get in line behind the girls and get to know them." I sat down behind a few girls and looked around. I caught a guy looking at me and I kept looking at him. In Vinessa's words, he is so fine. He has dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. Then, I felt a little poke at my side and see Caroline behind me grinning. "Wow, you were so looking at that guy," she said. "I thought you weren't going to flirt here." I rolled me eyes and turned around trying to find him but he was nowhere in sight. "Yes!" Vinessa shouted. She skips towards us grinning and sits next to Caroline. Everyone got situated and we all headed to our cabins to explore the camp. "This is going to be an amazing summer." Caroline said. "It's already boring." I muttered. "Relax, I mean the guys here are like wow." Vinessa said. "Yeah try and go after the guy who was looking at you." Caroline said. My eyes widened and I kicked Caroline. "Wait, spill." Vinessa said I rolled my eyes and walked off to the girls' bathroom. I splashed some water on my face and looked at the mirror. I look boring as hell with my medium brown hair and brown eyes. I bit my lip still staring the mirror and walked out of the bathroom. Someone bumped into me on my way out look for my friends and accidentally spilled Gatorade on me. "S**t." I said looking down my shirt. Just my luck, it was red Gatorade. "Sorry." The guy said. "It's alright." I sighed. I looked up and it was the guy staring me earlier. I felt my cheeks getting warm and it's my cue to leave.I brushed past him and went off to find my friends. I finally saw them shamelessly flirting with several guys. They finally caught me eye and waved me over. I walked over to them putting on a fake smile. "What happened to your shirt?" Vinessa asked. "Someone spilled it on me," I replied ⌠I am going back to the cabin to change." They nodded and waved goodbye. I walked back to the cabin and heard a strange voice whisper in my ear. I turned around and just saw everyone walking around and shook my head. No, I am just hallucinating, I thought. I opened the cabin door and saw Judy working at her desk. I walked into the section where I slept. I pulled out my bag from under the bag and looked for a shirt. I turned around to see if anyone was there looking and quickly changed my shirt. "Curfew is 7:45." Judy said. I walked out the cabin and went to look for Caroline and Vinessa. I felt someone grab my wrist and pulled me back. I turned around and no one was there. "Hey!" I hear someone shout. I turn back and see Vinessa and Caroline walking over at me. "Had fun flirting?" I asked. They both grinned and grabbed my wrist. "C'mon let's eat I am starving." Vinessa said. We both walked to the cafeteria. It was huge, bigger than my school's got our food and looked for a spot to sit at. "Over there." Vinessa said pointing an empty table. We walked over and sat down. "Okay, you know that guy John." Caroline said. "Uh huh." Vinessa said. "Well he gave me his number and told me what cabin he is in." "Really? I thought girls couldn't be in boys cabins." "Please, don't take it further Caro." I said. "Don't worry about me," Caroline said. "I can handle myself and I have limits." Vinessa and I both looked at Caroline and shook our heads. "Oh, whatever." Caroline crossed her arms across her chest. I laughed and look at the corner of my left eye and see the guy who was looking at me earlier eating with a group full of basketball players. It looked like he didn't fit in, he was just there you know. He laughed along with their joke and slouched down at his seat. I looked down at my food and ate some of my rice. "One of the guy are looking at you to your left." Vinessa said grinning. I looked back at my left and saw one of the guys was looking at me. He was on top of the table and had a basketball in his hand. I looked back at my food and continued eating. "He is cute." Caroline said "Please don't." I said. "Ooh some of the guys are now looking over here." Vinessa said. "Cut it out." I said. "Fine, but they're cute too." "You should flirt with them." Caroline said. I rolled my eyes and looked over at my left again. Everyone at the table were talking and making jokes. I looked back and had a sip of my water. "C'mon lets go play a game or something." Vinessa said. I nodded and we got up and dumped our food away. I looked at the clock in the cafeteria and it's 5:30, curfew is coming up soon. We walk into a gym and see a volleyball game almost starting. "Let's ask if we can play." I said. "Nah, I am going to sit back and look at one of the guys playing." Caroline said. Vinessa nodded I walk over to one of the girls who look like is in charge. "Hey is it alright if I join?" I asked. "Sure, it's perfect," she said. "Go to the other side." I walk to the other side of the court and see the same guy staring at me earlier. I squat in the middle of the back of the court. "Got it!" I yelled out. Of course, I didn't get it he had to get it. I tried to ignore that and changed positions. "Got it!" I repeated. He just had to get it again. "You now I had it right." I said walking over to him. "If I didn't get it then it would of hit you pretty hard." He said. "Just don't be a ball hog." "Sure, next is yours." He smiled. Damn, that was one hot smile. I went back to my position and waited to get the ball. "Got it!" I said. I did get it too. But sadly, it ended up hitting one of the girls on other side in the face. I ran to the other side and her nose was bleeding. "I'm so sorry." I said. "It was an accident." She said. I gave her a hand and helped her up. Then Vinessa and Caroline pulled me away from the crowd. "Do you know who that is?" Vinessa asked. "No." I shook my head. "That is Susan, from middle school." "No friggin way." "Yup, she looks so different now." "She looks better now, I guess." Susan. Where can I start? Oh now I know. She is a two-faced, backstabbing, b***h. She was real cool before she started going into the in-crowd. She used all her friends and talked about them. Not a very good friend. So end of the year almost 15 girls planned on fighting her on the last day. However, her boyfriends friends had her back so it was cancelled. But at last minute they said it's alright to fight her. Now, her boyfriends friends are scary as hell. I know they can kick my a*s any day. She end up moving because of her mom wanted to go back to where the hell she was born. "Wow." I said "Yeah." Caroline said. "Oh, we want you to meet some people." "Fine." They grabbed my arms and we started walking to the bleachers. "Hey, everyone this is Ekaterina but you can call her Ekat or Kat." Vinessa said. "Hey." They all said. Someone thought it was funny to purr like a kitten, it was nasty. "So where are you all from?" One of the girls asked. "San Diego." I said. "Oh cool, I am from the Bay Area." she said. "I'm Christina." I smiled and shook her hands. © 2008 hellosunshineAuthor's Note
