This is a shortened version of my family dog Lucy.

Lucy

My dog, my puppy,

My sweet, sweet Lucy.

Always energetic,

Always ready to play.

With your long fur on end

You prance around the yard.

You loved us, you cared.

My dog, my puppy,

My sweet, sweet Lucy.

You were all that and more

And now you are gone.

We all grieve, we all cry.

Now you are peacefully in heaven,

Joined a year later

By your dear friend Jack.

I hope you are as happy

As one puppy can be.

Author's Note

Our German Shepherd was shot and killed in 2009, in 2010 our neighbor's Golden Retriever joined her because of a disease.
