England in Crisis

In England we once had wide open spaces

jobs work money, and happy faces

sense of worth life was good on the whole

and self respect, even if on the dole.

Our children went to proper schools

played truant sometimes, broke the rules

and if teachers or coppers they came along

their ears would sing a sorry song.

Then came enlightenment revolution

political madness and total confusion

the left never knew what the right  did

and in the confusion common sense hid.

In this land we love eccentric Dimmocks

but politics is fly paper for Pillocks.

I liked how you pulled this together. Though I do not follow its meaning (chalk it up to me being senile) I found this well written with a superb voice that carries it flawlessly.

Oh yes! a good poem depicting our predicament... why don't they use logic anymore?
I enjoyed the read, cheers.

Just a little moan about politics in general.
