Net AppetiteA Poem by Richard WilliamsIt is a hungry being.I called up a computer tech to get my laptop well; I followed everything he said to fix my brand new Dell. But when I said goodbye and thanks a strange event took place; I felt an emptiness inside as flush welled in my face. I got angry, yes I got angry, that tech and call guy didn’t really help me. I was flustered, short of a breath, for I was a witness-- to that blue screen of death. I called back the computer guy to tell him what I saw; we tackled everything we could within computer law. Then with all the procedures through, and tweaked to get the Net, my reboot was one Window pain, as strange as it could get. Then it scared me, oh it scared me, this haunting image had its eyes upon me. I was startled, shocked at the sight; then I heard a hissing-- “I am Net Appetite.” Once again as I called the tech, I told him of the scene, of how its ‘lectric eyes pierced me, a look that was quite mean. But the tech told me not to fret-- he made it worth the price; he offered me a nickel’s worth of sound and sage advice. And so he told me, yes he told me, you cannot argue with a net that’s hungry. So be firm, and limit the look; to balance it better, go off and read a book. [Rhythm: 2(8-6-8-6)+(9-5-6-8-6-6) repeat] (Lines:32)
