The Skillful Spider

The Skillful Spider

A Poem by Richard Williams
"

A wee engineer.

"

Creeping, crawling, seeker at night,
receiver of the jeers,
inducer of one's basic fright,
alluring to the fears;
such account bespeaks the spider,
perhaps undeservedly,
nature's ageless deft-web rider,
keeper of tenacity.

Although to some your sight unnerves
at your designs I cheer;
acknowledgment your skill deserves
arachnid engineer!
Erector of entrapping strings,
expert on silken threads;
applier of concentric rings,
spinner of spider webs.

Persistent spider, form your net,
your boundaries to protect;
converging guy-lines you have met
you eight-legged architect!
And if your web is taken down
a new one may be wider,
built with substance only found
within the skillful spider.

A rather fun poem about the spider. Different in a very nice way. Spiders can't be all bad. Awesome poem!

Its a fun piece, I can sense the joy in writing it. But to be honest I liked your work on "Snow Camels" better.(It just does'nt challenge me the same, but maybe its not meant to?)

A fun and positive view of the spider. This insect has its good side and its bad side you could say, the bad side more often then not wins out in regards to our feelings about it. Very nice job on this. I found it very enjoyable to read.
