Purposeless

Purposeless

A Poem by Richard Williams
"

Natural Disasters.

"
The heart of nature lacks contrived intent;
A hurricane or slowly shifting crust.
Disasters strike a cord in their event.

Some will propose that these are heaven sent;
A tidal wave or dark cyclonic gust.
The heart of nature lacks contrived intent.

So long ago the dinosaurs were spent;
That cosmic crash enveloped earth with dust.
Disasters strike a cord in their event.

Appeal to Gods and then the laws are bent;
In times of snow and rain the wheels will rust.
The heart of nature lacks contrived intent.

A drought extends and all the yield is rent;
Yet hope entreats in positing a must.
Disasters strike a cord in their event.

It’s natural--no further scene is meant;
And natural just shrugs at purpose lust.
The heart of nature lacks contrived intent;
Disasters strike a cord in their event.

Beautiful, timely use of the form Richard..
I believe the most important line to remember is:
"The heart of nature lacks contrived intent;"
As nature is indifferent always, is always moving towards or away from us..is always proving that all things are impermanent.
