Simply Words

A Poem by Richard Williams
"

The essence of words.

"

Nostalgic northern aurora, foxfire nectar,
strewn Tylenol on tabletops, allotropic salts;
plate tectonics, gaunt Minotaurs musing life,
plebiscites of populace, sulfurous summer camp;
collective dilemma, long, high dikes,
freeze-dried baklava, a genie from the lamp;
circumvented paranoia, anchors in the mud,
ribosome's and Richter Scales,
the prose of Elmer Fudd;
thrombogenic genesis, pocket watch and snow,
hummingbirds along the marsh,
star Betelgeuse aglow;
Acquiescing scavengers, dispensation's draw,
gerbils in a limo--a red barn full of straw;
fragile Sphinx exhumed from desert sand,
the smell of coffee from a light blue can;
knitted shawls draping shoulders,
red wax and litmus test;
benevolence and blended mint,
Tahiti palms, the balmiest.
