Planet WavesA Poem by Richard WilliamsThe spill continues, my heart breaks. In troubled times like these I shake my head the dolphin, otter, pelican and whale, all forms of fish and even simple plankton. What thoughts and hopes could rid that awful crude that stains the very lifeblood of our Earth? It is a wound that mars our stewardship, an insidious upwelling down deep. The sea is immense, but so is a fool. Our ways are to protect the Earth, not kill nor blacken the reeds and the pristine sand. Yet stilettos incise our habitat and from the viscous cuts there flows a curse, a lance-like ripping of our precious planet. © 2010 Richard Williams |
