Verdant Genesis

Verdant Genesis

A Poem by Richard Williams
"

The green of nature.

"
The birth of spring supplants Earth’s staid array
in that as life it activates with green.
In winter all the dormant buds must stay
asleep until spring’s energy is seen.
Perhaps the greens all dream in long repose
of waterfall and sun expressing glare.
Then when awake, the daffodil and rose
conjoin with green’s eternal lively flair.
It is the time green reigns for glory sake,
as forest vast or covering in dale.
And now that green is lush and wide awake,
throughout the year on Earth  it shall prevail.
I see the birth of spring as time for joy:
and as for life, it’s green she will employ.

(Shakespearean Sonnet)

Very nice imagery. I loved the descriptive tone and flow of this poem. I love greenery.

This is exquisite. Very well penned.

The mystical journey of the season change in this piece is quite alluring. The description you give of the change taking place could become like a metaphor in one's mind and lead to other intriguing fantasies.

The birth of spring supplants Earth’s staid array
in that as life it activates with green.
In winter all the dormant buds must stay
asleep until spring’s energy is seen.
(This first verse of words is empowering and seeps right into the soul. The way you speak of spring vs. winter brings images nature rising from the dead as spring begins to blossom. I picture winter as the graveyard and spring as the heavens.(I know I have a very weird imagination) This verse is very well written. It creates the beginning of a story that urges one to keep reading on)

The birth of spring supplants Earth’s staid array
in that as life it activates with green.
In winter all the dormant buds must stay
asleep until spring’s energy is seen.
(Again I see a misty graveyard clouded by mist. I picture a slight ray of light peaking through beginning to beckon the green onward.)

It is the time green reigns for glory sake,
as forest vast or covering in dale.
And now that green is lush and wide awake,
throughout the year on Earth it shall prevail.(In this last line I don't know if it was intentional but there's extra space between earth and it)

I see the birth of spring as time for joy:
and as for life, it’s green she will employ.
(Alas, the last two verses bring the greens to the heavens, living in peace and prospering over the lands. Spring is reigning in all it's glory.)

Thank you for sharing the beauty of nature with vivid precision and keep up the good work.
