crashing on dreams

crashing on dreams

A Poem by Matthew

mind misplaced on yours
tonight when we danced
broken down and flowering
on the floor covered with
light flashing music crashing
smoke dashing from lung to lung

dabbling in laughs as we
dig the earth for fresh soil
"grow here" you tell me
the moon has stolen my voice
and dance has been transferred
into my once limp legs
i move and groove with the music
and you, stuck in bliss
attempt to figure this out
questioning my motives and
making love to my friend
"its OK" you tell him
"he understands"

the blue noize of neon
killing the night outside
we were reborn that evening
after the past in us had died
we moved on then
sailed down different rivers
to a new horizon o’er
silk waves crashing on dreams

i was never good at love
and i’m definitely a fool
but i’ve learned that the
heart isn’t what it seems
and you’re still lost in
your boat, crashing on dreams
and sinking some place
off the coast
