Who Created Whom?

Who Created Whom?

A Poem by Bob B

Did God create human beings,

Or was it the other way around?

The question resembles a Zen koan--

Such as the one-handed clapping sound.

To some, merely asking the question

Is a virtual powder keg.

It's like the question: What came first--

Was it the chicken, or was it the egg?

Some things are beyond knowing:

We can only speculate

As to how and why we got here.

It's still fun to contemplate.

The writers of all religious scriptures

Have a bias they choose to share.

They hope that their ideas will make

Curious, hungry believers aware.

The story behind human existence

To some is a matter of great pith.

Others have a difficult time

Accepting a simple creation myth.

Some folks are not satisfied

And want to gaze beyond the façade--

Beyond the human formulations

That try to define the concept of God.

People adhere to what makes sense

To them, and some of them will chide me,

For I prefer to allow science,

Reason, and common sense to guide me.

Being able to think and question

Are benefits of humankind.

So who created whom? The query

Will always challenge the questioning mind.

Bob....

I spent quite a number of years studying world religions and doctrines in an effort to find the ultimate truth (other than scientific) of creation and Creator that so many millions accept as "IT," all to no satisfactory avail.
One truth I did discover, however, is that each society has their own deity and religion, and often more than one … "creating" their own deity (including recorded religious history, complete with artifacts; and then, having it create them, the world, and the universe.
After all is said and done (in my considerably varied discernments), it's concluded on "THAT" truth no sects can actually know or completely agree on; and, despite longevity of beliefs, doctrines, organizations, robes, clerics, churches, synagogues, etc; and, faith (compete belief in something without the need for proof), philosophies, histories, bibles, torahs, talmuds, bagavagitas, qur'ans, kojikis and nihon shokis of shintō, along with ALL the like documentation, there is no single "PROOF."
On "TRUTH" we can truly only play.

This is the first of your work I've been privileged to share, but I'm thinking not the last.
Having said all that, I not only have been captivated by the skill required to compose such a movingly masterful poetic suite of spot-on rhyming Quatrains in smoothly laid clarity, syntactic flow, but struck by the mindful depth to present the idea of deistical truth's questions, as you have here … scribed like a story!

I love the English movie. "True history of the world." The movie showed how they changed the bible to be more positive.

The above lines. We must do. We must seek the truth. Thank you Bob for sharing the entertaining poetry.
