Not Out of the Woods

Not Out of the Woods

A Poem by Bob B

We aren't out of the woods

Regarding the COVID pandemic.

One thing isn't helping:

The anti-vaccine polemic.

Despite efforts to get

The virus under control,

Dis- and misinformation

Are taking a heavy toll.

If all had worked together

From the very start

To stop the virus from spreading,

Well, THAT would've been smart.

"MY body my choice,"

Some people will say,

As if that's going to make

The virus go away.

By not taking precautions,

The non-vaccinee

Can spread mutated strains

Of the virus to you and me.

Where COVID is spreading fast,

And the number of cases is sizable,

According to the experts,

The wearing of masks is advisable.

Some people think

That wearing a mask is futile.

Don't they realize

That COVID can be brutal?

No, wearing a mask

Isn't fun, but still,

It does offer protection

From something that can kill.

It isn't rocket science.

Listen to the pros.

Get your vaccination,

And cover your mouth and nose.

Valuable sage advice indeed. I wish I could feel indifferent to these people like they do for me but I can't. The other night I saw a woman who lost her only son to covid pleading for people to get vaccinated. They had both gotten sick and ended up in the hospital. She managed to survive and he didn't. She was in a lot of pain because of it. Feeling it was her responsibility to keep him safe but instead failing. Because they didn't want to take the shot because of all the news they had been hearing. But let's be honest it wasn't all the news it was a specific type of news from one area. And because of her mind being feed this false vile information on the premise of faux freedom and its supposed right her son is dead. Let that sink in. A young man died for nothing but a lie. And I cried for her. I didn't yell and say she got what she deserved. I wept for her suffering.

A agree. I do not feel glee over anyone's suffering. I feel sad that they were so misinformed.
