Is it a fair accusation

That Facebook spreads misinformation?

QAnon lies--

No big surprise--

Are truly a cause of vexation.

 

Freedom of speech, people say.

If they want to lie, that's okay.

That they bespatter

The truth with their chatter

Seems to grow worse day by day.

 

But QAnon isn't alone.

Other groups also have shown

That lying's an art,

So they play their part.

The extent of the damage? Unknown.

 

Yet Facebook insists it is trying

To clamp down on all of the lying.

But the COVID distortions

Are at epic proportions,

And thus many people are dying.

We are devolving into an idiocracy like the movie of the same name. Lack of education and integrity are seen as a virtue. Truth is the new lie. While lying and trolling are seen as moral. Texas is not only outlawing critical race theory but attempting to white wash racism by enacting laws which limit or remove teaching fundamental truths we have always known to be true about it. I guess they don't see anything racist about gunning down Hispanics in a Walmart or the lynching of Black Americans. They say these actions have to be taught without biased entering into the equation. Despite these vile acts being done with the full intent of extreme bias. Soon it will be totally acceptable behavior to run into a crowded theater and scream fire. With each passing day Covid appears to be the least of our problems despite the fact we are inching closer toward a million dead and rising. We haven't lost faith in news or government, we have lost faith in ourselves. We don't deserve this democracy and its freedoms with the kind of indifference we have toward one another. It's sad to say but true. If you care so little about your own life as to not get vaccinated how should I expect you to care about my rights to want to live. Things are going to get far worse for this nation unless we seriously reform it from its addiction to hate, violence, lies, and indifference.

As writers we have to write our truths. Regardless of how difficult a subject it may present. We must be forthright and truthful to our audience. Your writings have exhibited this and I thank you so much for them, Bob. Especially as a person of color who fears his place, as days pass, in this society. I wonder if my time as being seen as American is drawing towards an end. Only time will tell. Thank you again for shining a light on the things many take for granted or refuse to see as any issue with.
