What the...?

What the...?

A Poem by Bob B

Sometimes it is undeniably

Hard to comprehend

How people can support a loser

To the bitter end.

For example: a twice-impeached

One-term president who

After four chaotic years

Has nothing better to do

Than demonstrate his nastiness

And fervently embrace

Anyone who bows to him

As he lies to his base.

His toadies let themselves be guided

Like marionettes on a string,

And many flock to Mar-a-Lago

To kiss their cult leader's ring.

The man--crazed, deluded--seems

Totally unaware

That the more he talks, the more

We know he's not all there.

He still thinks he's president--

That he'll be reinstated--

And that President Biden's term

Will be terminated!

He thinks that the clown-show audits

Will have the proof he'll use

To try to convince the country that

He didn't really lose.

One would think Republicans would be

Tying themselves in knots

Over what he's doing. But no,

They let him call the shots.

One could laugh if it weren't so

Sick, disgusting and sad.

But what's going on is serious.

Folks, we've been had!

It seems we're watching democracy go

Into a tailspin.

It won't be destroyed from without

But instead from within.

I agree, Bob. Unfortunately many of these red hat followers vote against their own self interests. They are manipulated into ceding their vote to rich politcal southerners who really care nothing about their needs. They may once in a while get thrown a few scraps but they fail to see in the end they're getting nothing but dirt. Members of congress make an excess of 200 thousand annually. Think about that. And they do nothing but make rich people and corporations richer. While everyone else on both sides get poorer. And instead of seeing this truth these people rail against elitist city folk lumping them up with a totality of a single party. Believing all blues are radical leftists wanting to take away their freedoms while its the ones they voted for who are doing it. This one person submitted a poem arguing his point against elitist blue voters while proving my point about being manipulated. There are just as much poor folk in the cities as there are in the country if not more. When I explained we have more in common then we do differences his response was "it is what it is." Now that really isn't an answer and deep down I'm sure he's aware of that. But the hate is so visceral it blinds him from seeing the truth and ceding what very little power he has to rich people like Drumph. That is the crux of our problem. Hate won't ever get you anywhere but poorer and living in dirt while you continue to vote against your own self interests by sending rich elitists to represent you. The same one's they rail against on the other side. That is the opitomy of hypocrisy and not being fully aware of the power you do have to change your own circumstances.

Very well said. What is the solution? I am at a loss to find one.

I wish I knew the answer, though to be honest it may simply be empathy. To melt a heart of hate you .. read more
