A True Patriot?

To call the president a true

Patriot is a cause for concern.

Just to hear him called that ought

To make a person's stomach turn.

 

A patriot? Someone who sidles up

To murderous tyrants around the globe?

Whose policies sound as though

They're coming from a xenophobe?

 

A patriot? Someone who takes advice

From dictatorial leaders who

Suppress their people and stomp on their

Democratic points of view?

 

A patriot? Someone who simply ignores

Advice from honorable experts here

And lets only sycophants

And adulators have his ear?

 

A patriot? Someone who uses his office

For self-enrichment and personal gain,

And when the critics question him,

He responds with bitter disdain?

 

A patriot? Someone who thumbs his nose

At laws and with no circumspection

Asks for foreign involvement to help

Him win a presidential election?

 

A patriot? Someone who willfully

Obstructs justice and who defies

Subpoenas and asks his team to do

The same while they back up his lies?

 

A patriot? Someone who panders to

Religious groups to advocate

Laws that violate principles of

The separation of church and state?

 

A patriot? Someone who scorns our allies

And has a peculiar motivation

To placate adversaries and thus

Damage our nation's reputation?

 

A leader who stresses self before country

And rules a country with devious ways

Doesn't deserve to be called a patriot

And doesn't deserve the people's praise.

At this late point in his presidency, quite honestly, all the disgusting details have gone fuzzy on me. So it's nice how you can still differentiate this ongoing onslaught against "the people" as well as you do. You've hit on all the pertinent points without becoming bogged down in the other six million flippant affronts tossed out daily. I'm still at awe at how and why there are still people who believe in him. I guess they are the type of people that have to have something devastating happen directly to them or someone they love dearly to open their eyes and ears. I guess it's like the hunter who protests the thought of having guns taken away until their beloved son or daughter gets shot to death while sitting in school by some insane or just plain mean idiot with a gun and a mission to get his name in the news or to carry out a plan that he or she thinks our President has subliminally asked them to do. I guess some people just want to be different just to get the attention, not thinking it through as to how supporting the wrong official or idea might come back to bite them. I'm trying to patiently wait for Trump to have his backside chewed off and the rest of him thrown in prison for all the worry and pain and death he has already caused.

I have seen posts from people saying that Trump was God’s answer to their prayers, etc. Talk about looney tunes! My goodness what is wrong with people?
Regarding what it will take for people to open their eyes, it saddens me to think that the horrors we have already seen are not enough to call them to action to come up with common sense gun control.

what actually is the difference between trump and bush,or hillary trump is different,no doubt but he is strait forward,,hillary is a murderer,drug dealer,and more...when the dixie chicks made a comment about him he smiled and said something softly,went into the white house and called the country music producers and got them banned from t v and radio,,nice guy ,trump has done more for america than any other,,,and isn't bidden a damn crook
