How easy it is for privileged lawmakers

To find ways to keep their own futures secure

And to make bold decisions affecting the struggling

Retirees whose future hopes are a blur!

 

How easy it is for our leaders to ignore

Millions who struggle to make ends meet

And to balance budgets on the backs of the poor!

How often these same sad tunes repeat!

 

Protecting earned benefits like Social Security

Should be a priority. Spread the word!

To increase the suffering of needy Americans

Is shameful, unconscionable, unethical, and absurd.
