Proud Dads

Proud Dads

A Poem by Bob B

In beautiful Norway in the city of Bergen,

The aquarium has wonderful news to share:

Two penguin dads are now proud fathers,

And all are excited for this penguin pair.

Pondus and Herman Pile became parents--

Adoptive parents, that is--when a mom

While already sitting on two penguin eggs,

Unexpectedly dropped a bomb!

Yes, to everybody’s amazement

The mom laid a third egg which would create

A problem, for the first two chicks would survive,

But the third would suffer a cruel fate.

So Pondus and Herman Pile have the chance

To demonstrate their parenting skills,

And at the same time they’ll get to experience

Indescribable parenting thrills.

The big day has come and the egg has hatched.

Everyone seems to be on cloud nine.

In case anyone wants to know:

Dads and baby are doing fine.
