Free SpiritA Poem by Talia
I was born a free spirit, I claim
But my soul is trapped in a jar Like fireflies on a hot summer’s eve The road is calling out my name I want to ride it fast in my car So I can be given some relief I’ll leave my past in the dust I’ll inhale the rubber and rust See my old life in the rearview mirror ”Objects are closer than they appear.” I want to be by the sea Living wild and free With the sand in my hair As sea salt fills the air Where the sky is blue, and the grass is green I won’t wipe the clouds away from my eyes I need to quench my thirst for wanderlust Italy? Spain? An immediate change of scene Watch the stars shooting across the skies This place won’t be hard for me to adjust I want to be where the music is loud And I’ll be dancing among the crowd I can feel the bass beat in my chest In the front row at every music fest To forever be chasing sunsets And live with no more regrets Where I’m living in the moment Exactly like a starving poet Unscrew my cap so I can live my dream © 2020 TaliaReviews
