loneliness

loneliness

A Poem by Trevor Bergshoeff
"

We all go through it...

"

We never realize just how alone we really are in this world until we yearn for the familiar touch of another person. The warm caress of their skin on yours is instead replaced by the cold and desolate feeling of your own hand on your own flesh. Warm though it may be it is numb. Your bed; the chill of the other side wakes you and falling back to sleep now seems impossible. You sleep on the couch to replicate the feeling of someone sleeping behind you; resting is almost easy tonight. Then the morning comes and the realization that leather bound foam doesn't give you want you so desperately need, and that. . . that hollow feeling wells up in your chest and suddenly it feels like you’re moving through molasses, and every attempt to move is exhausting. No matter how tightly you hug yourself, that raw, gaping, creator that is left behind never gets any closer to healing. Someone else needs to take the needle in one hand and my heart"I think it fell out on the way here "in the other and sew me back together. But for now, I must get up, find my heart, and hold it in place as best I can.
