Beneath the moonA Poem by Trevor BergshoeffA simple love poem. Nothing sleazy. We lay beneath the moon Nothing surrounding us but the silken grass and the black
night sky. Go ahead Lay your hand in mine We shall share this night, Our hands entwined. I want nothing more. No sex, No kissing, Just us, Our gaze together locked. Eying the stars Ever so radiant and dazzling against the dark of night. I cannot think of anything more beautiful; The resplendent twinkling beaming from yours to mine, And the yellow moon illuminating your face with her golden
shine I move not a muscle For fear of scaring this moment away. But the stars begin to dim, Your breath calming, And the light sounds of sleep begin to escape from your
lips. Your hand, swathed by mine, goes to rest, And I try to fight the sleep forming in my eyes, Wishing to repel and resist the coming dawn burning away
this moment. But the battle is futile, Slumber overtakes, and the morning star is on the horizon. We lay beneath the sun. Nothing to surround us but the silken grass and the bright
blue sky. Your hand lay in mine; We shared the night Our hands entwined. © 2014 Trevor Bergshoeff |
