Sonnet on Penance

Sonnet on Penance

A Poem by Trevor Jay Bloodworth
"

Just some words on penance.

"

Look here at this new sin that you have done!

A high crime of most critic and distaste,

One that will have us all begin to shun

You for your approval of such disgrace.

Repent, dweller of darkness and harsh thoughts!

Such clarity does your mind not help keep

That it appears you have cast your last lots

And have caused your family’s name to weep.

This may be your final chance to make right

What you have done wrong and continue on,

Towards justice, forgiveness, and the light

Of repentance and what you have foregone.

Forgive yourself and admit all your wrongs,

Then sing of the great goodness in your songs.
