The Mad Composer's RageA Poem by Trevor Jay BloodworthSomething about an insane composer just intrigues me...Nothing can stop the mad composers rage. Notes on staff, writ upon every page. Again and again the paper crumbled. This song was no reason to be humbled. Perfection is what he wanted right now. This will make all other composers bow. Pen to page, hand to head, all notes to staff. "Success! Success!" He began a deep laugh. “This will make me a famous and rich man!” He ran off, and so his story began. Nothing can stop the mad composers rage. He would be a noted musical sage. But what was wrong with this, his first great
score? The violins? Maybe he needed more. Or could it be the echoing French horn? The instruments were perfect, he was torn. By candlelight he kept on his writing. Together, all sounds must be uniting. “Ha! I have done it, all of you will see!” “This is a song, a song just about me!” Nothing can stop the mad composers rage. Soon he would step on to the music stage. His papers were ready and all was set. This was the great score, on that you could bet. He must take this opus to his close friend. This piece of music will surely transcend. Off to find his most trusted friend was he. Certainly he would know what this must be! The manuscript in his hands was great work. So great, it left across his face a smirk. Nothing can stop the mad composers rage. He had done nothing but built a gold cage. He showed his friend the great opus he made. His friend did not like it; he was afraid. “What is this you’ve given me, just blank page?” “You did not compose anything, just rage.” He did not understand, he heard the notes! But it was not there, no musical quotes. It was in his head, for he could not write. Delusions, that all but tricked him of sight. © 2013 Trevor Jay BloodworthReviews
