the soul

the soul

A Poem by Taylor Munnerlyn

her road is full of broken pieces.
from when she opens the door to her home,
to when she closes the one to her safe place.
every moment in between there is nothing but dread,
whether its shouting and screaming,
or the strong hand that wipes across her face,
with a trail of red water falling from her nose.
as she enters her room,
loud noises blast from her stereo.
she hits the bed and wraps her arms around her knees.
as a trail of tears roll down her cheek,
she takes a deep breath in...
she has found her inner peace.

This is a beautiful piece. So little words, yet the message is conveyed greatly. Great job my dear. :D

I think we all go there from time to time... and then we find words, and meanings. :) Wonderfully expressed. Great job!

loved it. This is how most teens cope with things, isn't it? (loud music and deep breaths). Great job

This is a strong poem about abuse and how we find inner peace in the least expected places. The flow of the poem good. Not quite what I was expecting from inner peace. Wonderful job. Thanks for posting in Poem and Lyrical Challenge.
