Lonely

Lonely

A Poem by Taylor Speer

I’m learning to be okay alone.

I’ve silenced the negativity that used to buzz inside my head.
I’ve slayed the self destructive dragon that laughed while I bleed.
I’ve grown up from fantasies, planning a bright future insead.

but
my heart is still heavy like lead.

As I learned from a wise soul, sometimes it's a blessing to be lonely. As for the heart, like any burden it is sometimes heavier and sometimes lighter. Keep practicing your poetry and I'll wager it will be the latter!

Happy holiday and best of the season!

Very nice poem. I love the way it started "I'm learning to be okay alone." Those words hit home for me as I am also going through the same thing learning how to be okay being alone. Love the descriptive writing you used. I really enjoyed reading your poem :)
