to the person who tore me down

to the person who tore me down

A Poem by taylorrose

you always told me

to do my best

to go to college

to never rely on someone

but when i decide

to make my life better

you have a reason to stop me

i know your scared to let me go

but i need to be free

its all i been asking

just let me go

let me see the world

because i know you did once

maybe even twice

you never paid attention to me

never realized

how much i need this

i only ask

just let me see what i need to

you just have to ruin it

i want to go to college now

i worked hard to graduate early

i pushed my self so hard

just to be great

now that im here

you no longer what that

its not even your choice

i gave up my dream

dont make me give up another

dont make me run

I went to College but it was my decission. I think that decission should be on the child. I know the parents want them to push themselves and want to see their child succeed. But if you push them they will only fail out of resentment. To this day I am still taking classes because I know I can do it. I am doing it to better myself. and to show myself that I can do it. Dreams only happen if you make them come true. Like this

Hard to be a parent. I have four children. I worry for each one. A parent want their child ready to face the world. Sometime the parent and young adult need to talk and see where each one stands. Love is hard. You don't want to see your child fail. Thank you for the excellent poem.

You knew where to put the words to make the best of the emphasis in the narrator's desires. ;)

Run if you have to, but follow your dreams.

I support you 100%. Go to college. See the world. There are lots of things to experience and grow from. Leaving family is definitely part of growing up, but it doesn't mean you will forget them. Good luck.
