The Pain Of Remembering

The Pain Of Remembering

A Poem by taylor.mickles

I look into my eyes through the reflection in the lake
The lake where we would so often reside
I try to fill the empty space in my heart
But without you my soul cries

I sit here glaring at myself
Tears and mucus pouring from my face
I run away from the memories
But I still know all the curves of your face

You drifted off
Leaving me alone in this dance
You didn't even look back
Did I not deserve a second glance?

We used to talk all night
Sharing with each other all our dreams
But you've taken my heart
And destroyed all these thing

I turn away
Hoping it will help me to leave the past behind
I'm attempting to block out the thoughts of you
That slowly devour my mind

This used to be my place of comfort
A place where love was true
I love this place
But it's haunted without you
