Maybe It's Your Heart I'm After

Maybe It's Your Heart I'm After

A Poem by taylor.mickles

I devour souls for breakfast
Male angst is my favorite meal
I wait for you to get nervous
Then I strike to kill

But by kill I don't mean murder
I just deaden your mind
Like a parasite I crawl inside it
Until your secrets I do find

I'll slowly use them against you
Patiently pacing it out
You'll think that it is all you
I'll remove every strand of doubt

Once I've consumed your brain
I'll work my way to your heart
Tell it how to love me
Persuade it that we can never part

And once I've got you stranded
Spinning in my grin
Your heart I will have branded
So no one else can get in

Eventually you'll grow weary
But you'll have no where to go
You've isolated yourself completely
I told you so

I don't do these things on purpose
Innocence is my plea
Just another fly caught in my web
And my psyche was hungry

All I wanted was for you to love me
To convince you I'm all you need
But now you're like a zombie
A trapped bug yearning to be freed

You're useless to me now
What a shame and a waste
I've got to get rid of you
And do it with haste

You don't want to leave
Your vision is impaired
You trust me too much
More than you should have dared

I'm tired of you
And its breaking your heart
Your soul is growing weak
Easy for me to tear apart

So I'll eat you up completely
Rejuvenate myself
I'll find another victim
Luring them in using curiosity and stealth
