So Maybe

So Maybe

A Poem by Fire&Ice

I probably should've told you that I swam in the dark

So the sunfish couldn't see

The lillies invisible

To me, floated softly by

The then wide-awake fish beneath

The terribly cold water

Became agitated but dared not

Come too close to my ankles

The ones that swirled the water of their habitat

The seaweed slimed against my alabaster skin

My body was an illumination

Against the dark frigid waters of the night

With a few easy strokes, my heels hit sand

A shiver shook through me

As I rose, the water level shrunk to my waist

And I was safe again,

But not whole.

I like the Metaphor in this. I too feel that I am afloat in the frigid waters. I really like the ending. I know too well about feeling safe...but not whole.

Good job.
