Stage.A Poem by Taylor AnnThe
spotlight on me, Life
is a stage And I
perform. Perfect
hair Perfect
makeup Perfect
clothes Perfect
words Perfect
thoughts.
But
too soon the show ends. Curtains
close, Spotlight
dims, and
I'm all that's left.
The
perfect hair is
combed out. The
perfect makeup streaming
down my cheeks. The
perfect clothes being
shed. The
perfect words becoming
mute. The
perfect thoughts changing into
thoughts not so perfect.
Behind
the scenes, I am
unlike my character, So
true. The
lies, the
faults, Hiding
behind the lights, afraid
of the attention.
Who
am I really? Well
that's a question not my
character would ask. For
if I knew, I
wouldn't study the lines, I
wouldn't sing out with the piano's cue, I
wouldn't even step up, but I
do.
Who
am I? my
character would ask. © 2013 Taylor AnnAuthor's Note
