Chapter Ten - The Girl Who LivedA Chapter by Taylor Ann
New York Times Newspaper
Skylar Brown, the girl who lived. That’s the name everyone is giving her. After a tragic car accident with boyfriend, Grayson Simmons, Skylar was killed instantly on impact. Grayson came through with minor injuries, though he told reporters, “The instant her heart stopped beating, so did mine.” Days later at the funeral the now living Skylar says, “I saw everyone. I heard the mourns for me, and I simply couldn’t handle it. I started crying, staring at my body, unmoving.” Tears come to her eyes as she speaks, “One person seemed to notice my tears, because he looked me straight in the eye and told me ‘Everything is going to be alright.’ He knew.” After the service, Simmons approached Brown lying in her coffin. “I told her I loved her,” he claims. The two grab each other’s hands before responding, “And that was when I knew,” Brown says, “I knew it wasn’t my time. He had always made my heart race, and that was exactly what he did that day. He literally made my heart race. So I opened my eyes, and told him that I loved him back.” After the discovery, Brown was rushed to the hospital, Simmons right by her side the entire time. She was released weeks later with three broken ribs, two broken arms and a concussion. She then returned home to her family and her beloved Grayson. “He is my guardian angel,” she tells insiders, “And it was his love that brought me back.”
