My Speech Team 2012 Competition Piece #3

A Poem by Sunflower

The Nightmare Of it All

- What We Feel

I need to scream,

This feels like a nightmare type of dream.

I need to cry,

I still don’t understand why she had to die.

Can I ever be okay?

When she made me who I am today,

Everything seems dimmer,

I can’t believe the emptiness left from her.

Am I supposed to say its fine?

Or am I supposed to get in line,

To talk to someone about my pain,

I feel like crying enough,

- To make this whole city under rain.

All I can think about is that girl I knew,

Then how she’s gone but without closeness,

- For us few,

Who seem to have been stricken?

…By this horrible sickness.

We shouldn’t feel like this,

The only pain I feel,

- Is all surrounding the miss,

And the horrible sting,

Like all of us are lost to everything.

I see the people walking in the hall

- And passing me by,

I keep looking for her to just show up,

- So I can say Hi,

But she is gone it’s not a rumor,

- Or a lie,

Leaving all of our lives,

I guess none of us will understand why.
