Hold Still

Hold Still

A Poem by Sunflower

Everything, everything we have been through,

Made me think I knew everything about you,

With this journal in my hands,

I begin to cry, at every though of you best friend,

I didn’t even see this coming, why

Why did you commit suicide?

(Chorus)

I want to just pause the world,

And hold still,

You left me guessing, left me without notice,

Left this journal in my possession,

With so many secrets that I never knew

To read it or not until its done,

Once I’ve read it all you will be truly gone

Slept in my car,

But refuse to drive,

I keep carrying around my backpack,

With your journal inside,

Another secret kept,

You weren’t a virgin anymore,

And you didn’t tell your best friend,

Why didn’t you tell me?

(Chorus Repeat)

I want to just pause the world,

And hold still,

You left me guessing, left me without notice,

Left this journal in my possession,

With so many secrets that I never knew

To read it or not until its done,

Once I’ve read it all you will be truly gone

There’s a new girl at school,

She’s my only friend but isn’t replacing you,

And Taylor likes me for me,

I am reading every entry,

But slowly,

I’m starting to drive,

And move on,

The world doesn’t seem so still-
