CocoonA Poem by Taubah Blackmanstuck in the darkness of the mind, then set free
Beneath the weeping willow, her soul becomes her own. Disclosing to her fairy toys the life she's always known. Captivated with the world her tears begin to fly, unknowing all her dearest gifts lingers in the sky.
Beyond the darkness as she sits, the sounds of life come to. And forgetting where her place once was, she sought out to find a new. But journeys last for lifetimes and though endless are our guides, she finds her strength has taken leave and the truth untold runs dry.
Her hunger found her pain and rested there awhile. Feeding on the hopes that brew atop lonely children's smile. But hope but fades in darkness where she slowly swoons, A lifetime in the world of dust in a shapely dark cocoon. And there her mind does linger, though her body rests at shore, beneath the weeping willow in the grass of her mother's core.
Where sounds and thought of memories happy beneath such tree, where life was sweeten tokens of the souls once lingered free. But distance came to love and loss, the only left said plant, so beneath she sits in wonders of what ease the Spirits grant.
Alone she mulls the stories, of the secrets in her tears. And captures lights on Angels wings the moments felt like years. Discovering the questions her soul did linger there, forsaking all her loyalties, beyond her endless stare.
Her mind became a blanket, where her sorrows rests and soothes. The comfort of her longing days where the branche's caress protrudes. where the sky listened captivated by the serenades she sang her lips the passing melodies brought sculpted hearts to hang.
And down they drifted to see such a soul, the fates began to want. Still trapped inside a mind of pain she dismissed their need so blunt. But they stayed beside her silhouette adored with love she lost. And called to her in whispered voice to travel to a world across. And whilst they stayed, upon her heart dropped cushions for her pain so slowly she began to see the beauty of sorrows slain.
And made her mind break free in flight above that willow there. And soar to souls still trapped in fright, to deliver her song and care. Where hearts caress and gentle hope brought plain the forest fog. And met the children seeking love, upon disgruntled broken log. and took their hands to sing in joy, the days now brought in bliss where they sat among the Spirits wings on wishes healed souls do kiss.
So true beneath that willow tree her soul became her own. Celebrating with her fairy toys the life she'd always known. Captivated with such new world, her tears but fell in wonder at knowing of the sky's embrace, they heard her beyond the thunder. And there she called the aching world, to find such gifts so true, in a world across her fairy wings with love to rest anew.
